First Class Troubleshooting

I can't login to First Class
I don't have a separate inbox and outbox
My emails aren't group together in my mailbox

I can't login to First Class

Most login errors occur when the First Class client does not connect to the CRS server. This is easy to fix - we must tell the client where to find the server.

  1. Open the First Class Client.

  2. Check to "server" box to verify First Class's connection to the CRS server. If there is no server listed, continue as follows.

  3. Click on "Advanced" at the bottom of the window. With the Advanced options now open, click on "Setup."

  4. In the Setup window, find "Server."
    Type "fc.charlesriverschool.org".

Check the "Automatically" box to have First Class log you in immediately after opening the program.

  5. Click "Save" in the bottom right corner of the window. You should now be able to log in.
I don't have a separate inbox and outbox
  1. Open First Class and log in.

  2. Mac users: Go to "First Class" and then "Preferences."

Windows users: Go to "Edit" and then "Preferences."

  3. In the preferences windows, find the "Mailbox Style" pulldown menu and select "Separate Inbox/Outbox."

My emails aren't grouped together in my mailbox

By default, First Class does not group together messages from a single conversation. As a result, it can be difficult to trace the conversation's progression. You can tell First Class to group emails from a conversation by following these steps.

  1. Open First Class and log in.

  2. Go to "View" and then "Change View Properties"

  3. In the "Change View Properties" menu, find the "Group Items On:" pulldown menu and select "Subject."
    Check off "Collapse All Groups."
    Click "Apply" and then "Save."
